Carla Fuentes, a Valencian illustrator and plastic artist born in 1986, launches this series with a career highlighted by her collaborations with renowned brands such as Pull & Bear, Women’s Secret, Honda, Absolut, Bimba & Lola, Rochas, Nike, Coca-Cola, Shiseido, and her involvement in projects for musical groups like Polock, Russian Red, The Strange Boys, Cults, and Las Robertas. Recognized in Taschen's Illustration Now 5 as one of the most influential illustrators, Carla shares her vision through ten insightful questions.
1—If you could only keep one of your works, which would it be?
Choosing is truly hard, as I hold all my works dear. Perhaps one of the recent large formats I've done for the 3rd exhibition of the Flores Rotas project, as they are the latest.
2—Which historical artist would you like to spend a day with in their studio?
Another challenging question! But without hesitation, it would be David Hockney. He remains a significant reference for me, still alive.
3—In a world limited to one colour, which would you choose?
Payne's grey. It's the most beautiful colour in the world, full of nuances.
4—A film that resonates with you.
The Lobster, by Giórgos Lánthimos.
5—Any book you would recommend?
"Spring Cannot Be Cancelled" by David Hockney and Martin Gayford.
6—What plays in your studio while you're creating?
All sorts of podcasts, and currently, I'm listening to classical music, Bach.
7—Where do you find inspiration for your works?
In everyday life. In universal and close stories.
8—If your work could be summarised in one emotion, what would it be?
I believe it's a mix between strangeness and curiosity.
9—Nominate an artist we should know about.
Alex Tarazón.
10—What question would you leave for the next guest?
What inspires you?
